Christian Community Orchestra

Our History

The present day Christian Community Orchestra began 22 years ago in Douglasville, Georgia (Yes a real place!) Mrs. Jan Booth, a local resident and music teacher, was approached by one of the local churches and asked to begin developing a group of five children into an orchestra. (No small task figuratively and literally)
As the children's group grew not only did the location change but the name became "Youth Orchestra". About this time a few adults indicated their interest in joining the group and with the children's consent a new focus began in the communtiy.
After several years of continued growth the Central Baptist Church of Douglasville received the Christian Community Orchestra with open arms and has provided tremendous support through practice facilities, storage space, concert venue and support services
The two main famiy concerts (bring the young ones!), one in the Spring and one in the Fall, with Summer season ensembles, are enjoyed by the larger community which is often amazed that a local group of 50-70 players is so talented and enjoyable.
No offering is ever taken, and after the concert(s) a simple buffet is provided so that the audience can meet the players.

If you are interested in joining the orchestra please contact Jan Booth, Director, at the contact listed to the right.
